ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
ATEK Products, LLC is accepting applications for the position of Electrical Engineer. This person will work with our engineering team out of our product development center in Savage, MN. The product development group provides engineering and product development services for all ATEK Product companies, including: Datakey Electronics, Larco and TankScan.
Job Description
Position requires thorough knowledge of electrical design and engineering techniques. Responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and ATEK Products standards.
Typical Duties:
Typical duties will include but not be limited to the preparation and/or modification of the following:
- • Electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs.
• Project controls, cost estimates and change orders.
• Confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
• Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
• Direct and coordinate manufacturing, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
• Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.
• New product development involving the definition, design, qualification, and release of new products.
Essential Functions:
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- • Requires a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a solid knowledge of principles and practices of related technical areas including sensor, radio-frequency, and electromagnetic compatibility technology.
• Performs assignments independently with instruction as to the general results expected and with guidance from Department Manager and or engineering specialist on unusual or complex problems.
• Provides technical direction to Drafters, Designers, and less experienced Engineers.
• Assume the lead engineer’s role on assigned projects and may serve as project engineer.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate program of assigned engineering work and projects.
• Ensure proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication on projects.
• Analyze reports, drawings, tests, and other data to plan and design work.
- • Use engineering and design computer software to complete assigned work.
Education/Experience:
- • Bachelor of Science degree in an electrical engineering, and over three years of experience.
Skills and Special Requirements/Licensing:
- • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
• Ability to lead and drive projects
• Digital and analog circuit design experience
• RF radio design experience
• Microprocessor firmware development experience
• Electrical analysis software familiarity
• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
